1. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

 

Important: VIPRE Advanced Security uses advanced technologies for today’s newer operating systems and does not install on Windows XP or Vista.

 

HARDWARE AND OPERATING SYSTEMS

 

 

To run VIPRE Advanced Security features effectively, you need a PC-compatible computer with:

  • 1 GB of hard-drive space

  • At least 1 GB of RAM

  • Dual core processor recommended

  • Internet connection (broadband recommended)

 

32- or 64-bit versions of either

  • Windows 10 (All versions)

  • Windows 8.1

  • Windows 7 (latest service pack)

SUPPORTED EMAIL CLIENTS

(applies to email PC internet security protection)

  • Microsoft Outlook 2007 Service Pack 3
  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 Service Pack 2
  • Microsoft Outlook 2013 Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft Outlook 365 and 2016

 

Other email products that use SMTP/POP3 for sending and receiving messages, including Mozilla Thunderbird, and many others.

 

Note: SSL and TLS security protocols are only supported with Microsoft Outlook

2. KNOWN ISSUES AND WORKAROUNDS

 

  • VIPRE Advanced Security requires .NET 4.6 to run [VIPREHOME-7484]

In order to install .NET 4.6 on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, you must first run Windows Update and patch your PC. See KB articles below for more details.

  • VIPRE's Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) is not currently compatible with PCs that have Windows Secure Boot enabled [VIPREHOME-9551]

To use HIPS, disable Secure Boot. See the following Microsoft article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/disabling-secure-boot

 

 

3. IMPROVEMENTS

 

  • Improved Advanced Active Protection technology to handle advanced heuristic detections
  • Improved Advanced Active Protection cleanup
  • Performance improvement on startup
  • Improved support for case sensitivity with scans and exclusions
  • Added better support for Windows Security for RS5 (ELAM/AM-PPL)
  • Advanced Active Protection now works on systems with Device Guard enabled
  • Improved safety of “Always Allow” option in Quarantine
  • Improved VIPRE installer's failure reporting
  • Added new color theme

 

 

4. BUG FIXES

 

  • VIPREHOME-3098 - Fixed "Watch progress" button on notification for definitions update
  • VIPREHOME-8647 - Fixed issue with VIPRE Agent incorrectly removing files, causing a BSOD condition
  • VIPREHOME-9024 - Fixed the link between quarantine records and Active Protection events
  • VIPREHOME-8706 - Fixed crash on Photoshop startup
  • VIPREHOME-9345 - Fixed Registry paths display during scan
  • VIPREHOME-9579 - Fixed CategoryName in email event XML when a malicious email attachment is blocked
  • VIPREHOME-9549 - Fixed UI crash on Advanced Port Rules protocol modifications
  • VIPREHOME-9546 - Fixed UI crash when selecting Scan after viewing Timeline
  • VIPREHOME-9164 - Fixed issue when no Quarantine IDs were generated in Active Protection XML event
